"Great Job and I Should Have Found these Guys a Long Time Ago!"
I met this company at Tavern day in Burlington back a few months ago. I had spoken to them about previous work, had questions in regards to my well water filtration system, and of course had a leak coming out through some pipes that needed to be replaced.

Water Treatment
Hard water contains high levels of minerals that cause rusting in your pipes and plumbing appliances. Hard water could even block pipes as calcium sediments build up on the inner surfaces. It’s rare, but hard water can cause water heaters to explode. Residents in Litchfield County are at more significant risk due to the 112 PPM water hardness.
Curious about the effects of hard water, the signs of a hard water supply, and benefits of installing a water softener? Schedule a Water Test Today!

This technique allows our plumbers to identify the cause of clogging, the size of a clog and the exact location of a clog, so we can remedy it as efficiently as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions
Canton is served by Connecticut Water Company, which operates the local water system using a combination of sources. Connecticut Water serves 56 towns across the state and is one of the larger water utilities in Connecticut. Portions of Canton — particularly rural areas — still rely on private wells. Canton sits on glacial till over fractured bedrock, which means private wells here are typically drilled bedrock wells and the water carries the mineral content that comes with that geology.
This page is structured by service. Whether you're dealing with a well issue, a drain backup, or want to understand your water, the answers below are the ones Canton homeowners ask most often.
Wells
How does a private well actually work?
A modern Canton well is a drilled bedrock well, typically several hundred feet deep, with steel casing through soil and into competent rock. A submersible pump pushes water up through poly pipe, through a buried pitless adapter at the frost line, into the house, through a pressure tank, and out to your fixtures.
How often should well water be tested?
Connecticut DPH recommends annual basic indicators (coliform, nitrate, pH, hardness, iron, manganese), lead at least once, arsenic/uranium/radon at least once and ideally every five years, and VOCs at least once.
Should I be concerned about arsenic or uranium in my well?
Yes — both are worth testing on any drilled bedrock well in Connecticut. The 2020 USGS/CT DPH study found 3.9% of Connecticut wells exceeded the EPA arsenic limit (10 µg/L) and 4.7% exceeded the uranium limit (30 µg/L). Risk varies by bedrock type — wells in granitic, mafic, and pelitic rock formations carry higher probability — and the only way to know your specific levels is to test.
What is short-cycling and why does it matter?
The pump turning on and off rapidly instead of running for sustained periods. Almost always caused by a failed pressure tank, a leak, or a worn pressure switch. It's the fastest way to burn out a well pump.
Should I install a constant pressure system?
For larger Canton homes, multi-bathroom homes, or any home where pressure drops noticeably during simultaneous fixture use, yes. Constant pressure (variable speed) systems hold steady pressure regardless of demand.
